Condition: SC Joint Separation/ Shoulder Injury    Treatment: The Works

In June of 2011, I was sidelined by a violent mountain bike accident that resulted in major damage to my right Sternal Clavicular joint and shoulder.  I spent the next four months resting and searching for a way to get better.  I met with various Orthopedic Surgeons who told me surgery on the SC joint was too risky and would not turn out how I would hope.  With help from Luke at Quantified Performance, I located a highly specialized shoulder specialist at the Steadman Clinic in Vail who was very confident he could put me back together.  The operation went very well and after a week of close supervision, I was on the road to recovery.

Once back in Durango, I went straight to Quantified Performance and spoke with Luke about physical therapy.  Being a competitive Crossfit athlete, I wanted to get back in the gym as soon as possible.  Luke was very familiar with the physical requirements of Crossfit and calculated a plan for my recovery.  Over the first few weeks we concentrated on promoting blood flow to the affected areas utilizing (microcurrent and laser treatments).  Luke then incorporated an ARPwave regimen that facilitated progressive strength and stability gains.  At the six-week check up, the doctor said my recovery was on par with a patient twelve weeks out of surgery.  Another eight weeks of ARPwave treatments with periodic Dry Needling and I was ready for another follow up with the Doc.  I explained to the doctor that my goal was to resume full Crossfit activities that included activities such as Olympic lifting, pull-ups, push-ups and other various physically demanding movements.  To my surprise, he gave me a full release with no restrictions.  No one, including me, expected my progress to be this advanced.
